Do you allow guests other than scrapbookers and quilters?
Yes! Although the house has been designed for scrapbookers and quilters, any crafting group is welcome to enjoy the spacious workrooms; stamping, beading, knitting, embroidery, sewing, knitting, etc. Our workrooms are set up in a way that they would also accommodate "mixed" groups of crafters (i.e. scrapbookers and quilters together). It would also be ideal for a Christian Women's Retreat.
How much space is there for each person to work?
Each person has their own 5' table, along with an ergonomic mesh back chair and individual Ott table light. There are also electrical outlets available at each table.
What tools are available to use at Maple Memories?
There are many items including two Cricut machines, a computer (with scrapbooking fonts), printer, scissors, Quickutz and Sizzix die cuts, stamps, big boards, etc. For a detailed list of tools and other supplies available to you, see our list of
Furnished Supplies.
What are the accommodations?
There are 5 bedrooms with 12 beds total. All bedrooms are located on the second level of the house. All bedrooms have twin beds (no bunk beds). The green bedroom sleeps 2, the blue bedroom sleeps 4, the purple bedroom sleeps 3, the yellow bedroom sleeps 2, and the orange bedroom sleeps 1 (perfect perk for being the coordinator!). In addition, there are three bathrooms with three showers.
I'd like to visit Maple Memories, but I only know a few people that scrapbook. What are my options?
Although the majority of the bookings are to one person/coordinator who plans the visit with her friends or clients, there is another option to ensure everyone who would like to visit Maple Memories gets a chance to do so. This option is to join a "Hosted Weekend". These happen throughout the year, are hosted by the owner, and include food. Look for these dates on the
Availability Calendar or
ask Shannon for more details.
What should I bring with me?
Craft supplies for your activities, toiletries, and a towel. Bedding is provided. Each bed is made up with fresh, clean cotton sheets, blanket, comforter and a pillow.
Is food provided?
No, food is not provided. Your group is welcome to bring meals for your stay. The full-service kitchen will have everything you need to prepare your meals. One option is to go potluck style, or have the coordinator assign people specific items to bring (For example, one person would bring fresh fruit, another muffins, another dessert, another a casserole for dinner, etc). Another option is to visit many of the great
restaurants located in McPherson. We hope to work out a catering option as well, but at this time we have not ironed out all of those details.

recipe list for proven, retreat-friendly meals.

The Button Hole, Joyful Creations, The Cake Lady, The Cook's Nook, and Java John's. Additionally, you can relax at
Creative Hairlines Spa, visit the

When is check-in/check-out?
Check-in is after 4:00 p.m. on your start date and check-out is by noon on your end date. If you need special arrangements let us know. Depending on the arrival time of the next group, check-out times can be adjusted if requested ahead of time.
Do we have to clean when we leave?
Maple Memories has its own housekeeper. We do ask that upon check-out you strip the linens off your bed, gather the garbage into one spot and run the dishwasher (the group before you will have done the same).
How do I make a reservation?

What is the payment/cancellation policy?
A $250 deposit is required 7 days after you receive the email confirming your reservation. The remaining balance of the payment is due 30 days before you arrive at Maple Memories. If this reservation is canceled the entire deposit will be returned in full up to 90 days before your scheduled arrival date and your reservation will be opened up to other renters. If cancellation occurs between 30-90 days before your scheduled arrival, you will forfeit your deposit. All notice of cancellations must be made to Shannon by email to
shannon@maplememories.com. If cancellation occurs less than 30 days before scheduled arrival date, you will be charged the entire amount of the reservation.
How about smoking and pets?
Smoking is not allowed inside Maple Memories. You may smoke outside of the house. We do not allow pets of any kind on the property for the benefit of the house and your fellow guests.
I know you only have 12 beds, but can we have more than 12 people overnight (i.e. sleep on the couch, floor, etc)?
Although we wish we could have more overnight guests, occupancy MUST be kept at a MAXIMUM of 12 due to city and fire regulations.
Where do we park?
There are a limited number of parking spaces available at the rear of the house. To minimize the number of cars parked at Maple Memories, please carpool when possible. You may also use the two garage spaces available. If your group requires more parking spaces than what is available in the garage or the available spaces at the rear of the house, offsite parking is available ½ block away in a public lot. Please contact us to obtain parking passes and instructions for using that lot. Do not block the alley with any parked vehicles.
